$69M high rise slated for mid-Market
From today’s Examiner, “As San Francisco struggles to build affordable housing, particularly for families, city officials and nonprofit developers are grappling with the high cost of building here. One of two affordable high-rise apartment buildings expected to help transform The City’s Mid-Market area comes with a hefty price tag: $69 million.”
“…the 12-story building with 135 units — one third of which are three bedrooms — addresses The City’s commitment to house low-income families, including those in the Mid-Market and Tenderloin areas who now live in cramped, decrepit apartments, he said. The project also helps the agency meet its requirement to preserve affordable housing in what is expected to become a redevelopment area and it may help spur investment in the struggling neighborhood.”
