Tenant Activists Picket Attorney's Office
BeyondChron is reporting that Andrew Zacks, a prominent landlord-rights attorney, has bought an 8-unit building solely for the purpose of flipping it as TIC units. The tenant’s union staged a protest outside of his office on Friday in an attempt to point this out to passersby.
“Now, [Zacks has] decided to move from indirect advocacy to direct action, purchasing an eight-unit building with the intention of evicting everyone living there. Located at 1856 Franklin Street, the building provides a perfect example of how harmful the Ellis Act can be. Four units in the building provide homes to seniors, all of which have lived there for decades. For tenant activists, this recent action provided the perfect opportunity to highlight Zacks’ role in tenant’s rights battles.”
