Help design the lower playground at Potrero Hill Park
From the PotreroHillSF blog,
This past Wednesday, the Trust for Public Land held the second of three workshop for community members to help shape the design of new improvements to the playground, lawn, and picnic areas in the lower playground (near the tennis courts).TPL’s consultant, Design Community & Environment, presented three concept plan alternatives created to address the community’s vision. After review and discussion, workshop participants gave TPL direction to move forward with refining Option B, and enhance the central gathering space, further develop the play area, and open up the tree canopies to get more light and visibility into the park.
At workshop #1, participants expressed the following vision for the park:
Vision: A destination point within a natural setting with great views. Playground is a place where the diversity of the Potrero Hill neighborhood is valued. Workshop participants want to celebrate the park and people by providing a gathering place, multiple uses within the park, and art that reflects Potrero Hill.
Program and Use: The participants’ two primary interests for programming included activities for children (such as music) and large community events (such as movies on lawn, barbecue, dancing)
Park Characteristics: Clean, safe, well lit; trees but also sunny and open character with clear visibility.
The Trust for Public Land welcomes any additional comments by April 10 at 5:00 pm.
Please join them for the final workshop #3, at which the final concept plan, integrating your comments, will be presented. The workshop will be held May 3, 6:30-8:30 PM at the Potrero Hill Recreation Center, 801 Arkansas Street.
